Color Prospectus
Emotion. Story. Metaphor.
Color photography has power. Color is emotion. Color is feeling. Color is story. Color is metaphor. The tone of an entire photograph can be changed simply by the color of the lighting: the blue-green of fluorescent, or the warm glow of incandescent. Nothing in the frame moves. Only the color does.
Colors have psychology. Ever since color film became widely available, photographers and filmmakers have used our emotional attachment to color to tell stories. Sometimes a single pop of color can signal a deep, complex emotional life.
Color is everywhere now. Every phone captures it, and every screen expects it. That makes it easy to forget that color is a choice. The photographers who make it one, who decide what red means in a frame or let a cold light do the talking, show us how much a photograph can say before we know what we’re looking at.
We want to see how you use it. Landscape, street, portrait, experimental, conceptual: any genre, as long as color is doing the work. Bring us your photographs.
