Most gallery memberships are for people who look at art. This one is for people who make it. Ojos is an artist membership that fosters community, collaboration, and creativity.
What Is Ojos Membership
Black Eyes is a gallery built for artists by artists. We took our name from the black eyes of Sonora, because nothing out here goes unwatched. A photograph wants the same thing the desert gives- attention, returned. It isn't finished until someone looks back. Ojos is the membership that grew out of that. We show contemporary art in every medium, but the work we jury is fine art photography, and this membership belongs to the photographers.
The membership is $75 for the year, and it stands on three things:
Community, a circle that reaches well past photography, into the painters, performers, and makers who fill the other half of this gallery.
Collaboration, the people you meet there, and what comes of knowing them.
Creativity, the room to keep making, and to keep sending work out, without weighing each one.
A year of being looked at, and of looking back.
WHAT YOU GET
Two free 10-submission entries per year: For any call we run, you can enter without paying the submission fee. [At $50 a submission, that's your membership back before the year's out.]
Two free prints, up to 8.5 × 11: Send us your files, and we'll print them here on our professional-grade printer. Pick them up at the gallery [or we'll ship them to you at cost].
Ten percent off in the shop: books, prints, and local goods.
Notification of events before anyone else: You get the dates first and will have early access to registration for workshops and events.
Our webinars and digital content: Recorded talks and technical sessions. Watch them whenever you want, for as long as you're a member.
A members-only show, once a year. One call a year that only members can enter.
Founding Member Rate Locked In: Join in our first year of business, and you lock in the rate of $75 per year for as long as you are a member- our way of saying thank you for trusting us.

No. You're not renting wall space, and you're not paying dues for the right to hang. It isn't a patron program either — we're not fundraising off you. This is a membership with benefits for joining.

The cost is $75 for the year, and your membership is active from the day you join; it runs for 12 months. It's not a calendar year.

No, it will expire, and you can renew it of your own accord. We will let you know two weeks before it expires, but it’s always your choice not to renew. And if you decide to renew, you will have to sign up again!

Most of it, yes. Free submissions, the members-only show, and the webinars don't care where you live. Prints we can [ship at cost]. Workshops are the one genuinely local piece right now, so if those are the main reason you're joining and you're a plane ride away, hang on until we're running them online too.

Nope. Every call we run is open to anyone. Membership makes submitting free, not possible.
